Getting to Ermioni has changed since the global Covd-19 pandemic and Putin's invasion of Ukraine.  The travel routes remain the same, but the effect on timetables and ticket prices have changed dramatically.  The majority of visitors to Ermioni tend to come from Athens, foreigners from the International Airport or people who live in the greater Athens area.  This journey has changed for many, with restricted timetables if travelling by Hellenic Seaways or KTEL Argolida bus/coaches, and the global rise in fuel costs affecting many if travelling by private or hire cars, motorbikes, taxis or by sea.  If travelling by road, there's also the additional cost of the three toll stations on the motorway before reaching the Corinth Canal area. It all depends on your budget and the time you are prepared to spend on your journey.

The most cost effective way of getting to Ermioni remains the KTEL Argolida option, with ticket prices from Athens Kifissos InterCity bus station to Kranidi being €17.70, however, if arriving at the airport, you still need to get to the Kifissos bus station, €6, and upon arriving at Kranidi, you still have to get to Ermioni, with taxis costing around €15 extra.    During the pandemic, KTEL operated a restricted InterCity timetable, which has been extended.  The arrival point for their buses in Kranidi has been relocated to the area opposite the central taxi rank, with return tickets now obtained from Taverna Lempis, located just above the new arrival point.  Total journey time from Athens Airport to Ermioni could be approximately 4.25 hours if all the connections go in your favour.  Total cost for one person being just under €40.

Hellenic Seaways operate a sea crossing service from Gate 8 in Piraeus directly to Ermioni, journey time being approximately 2.5 hours.  Since the start of the global pandemic, their catamaran boats usually sail twice a day, with ticket prices now being €44.50 per person, one way, a sharp rise when tickets cost €34 in 2021, due to the higher cost of maritime fuel.  The X96 bus from the airport to the port of Piraeus is €6 and takes about 1.6 hours.  Since August 2022, Hellenic Seaways started to operate their new AERO Highspeed catamarans on their Saronic Gulf routes, replacing the aged 'Flying Dolphin' hydrofoils, giving a touch of luxury to travellers sailing to Ermioni.   The total travelling time from Athens Airport to Ermioni could be approximately 3.75 hours.  Total cost for one person being just over €50.

Travelling to Ermioni by car, taxi or motorbike is the quickest way with the journey time from Athens Airport to Ermioni taking approximaetly 2.5 hours, driving at tourist speed.  A taxi would cost approximately €220-€240 for up to four people.  It is not possible to give costs of renting a car, as it depends on which rental company you choose, the period of rental, the type of car you are renting, the time of year you are travelling and what insurance cover you select.  It is worth checking the internet for the best deal for you.  There is a car rental company based in Ermioni, with an office near the airport.  Pop's Car Rentals offer long-term and short-term rentals as well as car hire for single one-way journeys.  If travelling on the motorway between Athens Airport and Corinth Canal, toll charges will cost you about €7.00.

It was announced today that construction of a new Central Station for InterCity buses has been approved in the Elaionas district of Athens.  This new bus station will eventually replace the existing stations at Kifissos and Liosion, with the project estimated at 100 million euros.  Located next to the Elaionas metro station and several bus stops, it will serve as a major public transport hub for traffic into and out of Athens.  In addition to the InterCity buses, including KTEL Argolidas, it will also serve international bus travel.
