On Thursday 5th December 2024, the luxury hospitality giant Four Seasons, in partnership with Irish business tycoon and investor Paul Coulson of Hinitsa Bay Holdings, announced plans for the redevelopment of the present 4-star Hinitsa Bay Hotel, close to Porto Heli in Ermionida, into a 5-star luxury resort and private residences.  With a scenic backdrop, the 'Four Seasons Resort and Residences - Porto Heli' will offer bay views of the Saronic Gulf and the nearby island of Spetses.  The expansion and redevelopment will transform the existing Hinitsa Bay complex, which currently spans 750,000m² and 3.25 kms of coastline, into a new Four Seasons experience with 80 guest rooms and suites and 30 bungalows, with a capacity of 607 beds, in addition to private Four Seasons branded residential villas.

The Four Seasons deal also includes prestigious 5-star hotel complexes at the Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni, near Athens, and a new hotel development, expected to be complete by 2026, on the island of Mykonos with the owners of the Astir Palace.  Four Seasons currently operate 130 hotels and resorts along with many luxurious villas across 47 countries worldwide, and ranks among the best hotels and most famous brands in the world, according to reader surveys, traveller reviews and industry awards.

The nearby island of Hinitsa has a history reaching back to antiquity.  The island was originally called Aliossa, mentioned by the Greco-Roman traveller Pausanias in the second century AD as a haven for the boats of fishermen in the area of ancient Hailieis, part of the kingdom of Hermione.  The present Hinitsa Bay Hotel, named after the island, was built in 1975 and renovated in 2016, operating April to October.  From 2026, the redeveloped Four Seasons Resort and Residences complex will operate all-year-round.
