Hydra Beach Development

The historic Hydra Beach Resort near Ermioni will soon see significant development after the Daskalantonakis Group took over management of the resort hotel in 2025, recording a 50% increase compared to the previous year.  Hydra Beach was originally built in 1965 by the Konatantinidis family and was one of the first luxury complexes in the country.  In the 1970s, the owner of Hydra Beach built the Porto Hydra hotel next to it, but it was sold in 2011 by the Konstantinidis family to a business group.  Hydra Beach came under the control of the Italian group Santoni, which renovated the hotel in 2009, transforming it into a five-star resort with 343 rooms, four restaurants, five bars, with a 1,600 sqm spa and two swimming pools.  In 2013, the hotel was taken over by the Spanish group Barcelo Hotels & Resorts.

The Daskalantonakis Group's investment in this historic hotel comes at a time when significant capital is being invested in the wider Ermionida area by international and Greek groups, as well as by international hotel chains.  Argolida is rapidley emerging as one of the most dynamic luxury tourism destinations within Greece, attracting investmens totalling over 1.5 billion euros.  The epicentre of this development is the area of Ermioni and Porto Heli, where large-scale tourism projects are now being implemented or planned.

Other developments near Ermioni include the Scarlet Beach Resort and Spa project by the royal family of Abu Dhabi on the former Ermioni Club site.  This will be managed by Waldorf Astoria, one of Hilton's luxury brands.  A few kilometres to the west, Six Senses Porto Heli is expected to be developed in collaboration between CBE Capital, Taconic Capital and the Goutos family.  A third development near Port Heli is the new tourist complex Four Seasons Resort and Residence at Hinitsa Bay in Ermionida by Irish businessman Paul Richard Coulson.  Also in the same area, at Plepi near Ermioni, the Hydra's Art Residencies investment project is being promoted by a Cypriot company, Plepi Land Development Ltd as the implementing body.

Another high-value investment project called Hydra Rock/Serenity Village stands out, with a total budget of 474.6 million euros, by a company owned by Yiannis Vardinoyannis.  Set in 1,750 acres, located mostly within the boundaries of the Municipality of Poros.
