Within a couple of days of Rainstorm 'Adel' subsiding and moving SouthEast across to the Dodecanese Islands, Rainstorm 'Byron' movied into the Argolida region from the South on Wednesday 3rd December 2025 on its way to Athens and Attica.  Heavy rain started in the Ermionida area around noon on Wednsday, continuing all day, and the next, with a giant thunderstorm in the early hours of Friday 5th December.  The powerful weather system named 'Byron' swept across much of Greece on Friday morning, forcing widespread school closures, disrupting public services and causing severe travel delays as heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed large parts of the country.  The Corinth-Athens National Highway was closed to traffic from Corinth to the Elefsina tolls due to landslides and accumulated water.

In the Southern Peloponnese, traffic on the Sparta-Gytheio National Road has been completely disrupted with flooding in multiple areas, with most traffic rediverted.  Two German tourists had to be rescued after their lodging, vehicle and caravan were inundated with floodwater.  Two Hungarian nationals who also own a resisidence nearby also required assistance from the local Fire Brigade.

The coastal town of Ermioni was hit with a massive thunderstorm around 2:00am on Friday morning, causing widespread flooding.  The impact of Rainstorm 'Byron' is set to continue, with strong rain and thunderstorms through to Saturday 6th December across most parts of the southern and eastern parts of the country.  Storms 'Adel' and 'Byron' have made up for the dry Summer of 2025.

Within Ermionida, Storm 'Byron' lost most of its strength by Friday evening, and we finally saw blue skies and sunny periods on Saturday 6th December, however, many agricultural areas were left flooded  The aftermath is still being felt across Greece, with flooding and civil protection alerts continuing in parts of Central Macedonia, Thessaly and the eastern Aegean.
