Whether it be groups or individual GreekSTRAYS, all have their own stories to tell and one day they will be written.

As a rescuer and an active animal lover, it is a task that is never ending!!!  Financially and emotionally, it is extremely draining. Over the years many Greek strays have been rescued and rehomed, but it just doesn't seem to be getting any easier.  Cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, young, old, new born, sick, disabled, dying, dumped, yet miraculously most have survived and gone on to better lives in new homes with new loving families in various European countries, but this in itself is proving more and more difficult to achieve.  The local colony strays are in addition to the 'rescues' and naturally food is the biggest expenditure, with so many mouths to feed, especially during the winter period when they are cold, wet and hungry.  We hope and pray that this year will be easier.

MARCH 2016 - PUMPKIN rescued as a baby from the bins.  PUDDING the tiniest bin kitten rescued.  All went to HOLLAND.

JANUARY 2016 - PRECIOUS a stray that came running towards us through the long grasses.  We tried, but couldn't save her.  Her cancer was too far gone.

JANUARY 2016 - HARRY a street dog in Ermioni for many years who became sick.  He had Calazar and was given medication.  Once fully recovered, he was castrated and then left Greece to his new loving home.  Destination: SECRET

2015 RESCUED & REHOMED GreekSTRAYS

DECEMBER 2015 - DUMPLING found wailing along the Mandrakia side.  All on her own.  Rescued and she went to HOLLAND.

NOVEMBER 2015 - 4 PUPPIES dumped at the market.  They were saved, but one went missing.  Others went to GERMANY.

OCTOBER 2015 - CHLOE wasn't wanted, so we rescued her and she went to HOLLAND.

OCTOBER 2015 - ALEX & ANNIE were found by bins in separate areas.  They were saved and adopted in the UK.

SEPTEMBER 2015 - BEE-BEE & BO-BO rescued from Nafplio as a result of an email from a holiday maker.

AUGUST 2015 - PRECIOUS was rescued in Nea Epidavros by an English couple.  Took her to safety and looked after her until she was ready to fly to the UK and join her new family.

JULY 2015 - CINDY dumped in the local cemetery, full of ticks.  Rescued and treated, she went to a charity in the UK, who found adopters for her.

JULY 2015 - COCO & CHANEL found wrapped in a plastic bag and binned.  Rescued and they went to HOLLAND.

JULY 2015 - GEORGE rescued from Nea Epidavros by Nickie and homed in the UK.

MAY 2015 - OUZO & METAXA binned and left to starve as tiny little puppies.  Rescued them and they went to a charity in the UK.  They were adopted together.

MAY 2015 - GINO rescued by mistake.  On a mission to find a sick dog and found him instead.  He was adopted in the UK.

MAY 2015 - GINA went from being emanciated, starved, skin and bone to a wonderful doggie.  Rehomed in GERMANY.

MAY 2015 - ROCCO, BOUBOULINA, SHAUN & GOLDIE rescued as little puppies, given a chance and were homed in ITALY.

MAY 2015 - HERBIE, BEANIE & SOOTY were born to a very wild mummy who was waiting to be neutered.  Mummy escaped so they had to be hand reared.  Were adopted in HOLLAND.

JANUARY 2015 - APPOLO & HERA rescued and both went to the UK.

JANUARY 2015 - MONTY & MIA rescued from the bins in Kranidi and went to Holland, POPPY went missing, the other 3 are safe.

 

2014 RESCUED & REHOMED GreekSTRAYS

DECEMBER 2014 - Rescued on the back streets of Ermioni - didn't even have chance to name her, she was so thin and very weak.  She lived for 2 days only.

DECEMBER 2014 - BOUBOULINA was found wandering in the middle of the road by Dimitra's supermarket - now in ITALY

OCTOBER 2014 - KUTSIA 'an Italian plea' first spotted in June near Argos, finally found in October against all odds - ITALY

SEPTEMBER 2014 - BILLIE & BENNY  Two older puppies just appeared in the open field and have stayed with us

AUGUST 2014 - 3 PUPPIES found dumped by the football ground.  Sadly 1 died, but the other 2 survived - GERMANY

JULY 2014 - 15+ KITTENS dumped around the village, many were very sick - now all OK and homed in GERMANY & UK

JULY 2014 - MUMMY and 5 KITTENS dumped by a German lady who no longer wanted them - now in the UK

 

JULY 2014 - ROSIE was found by the bins close to the cemetary in Ermioni - rehomed in GERMANY

JUNE 2014 - YIANNIS was found by tourists in Nafplio - now in new home in GERMANY

JUNE 2014 - AMBER & CHARLIE were wrapped in a plastic bag and binned - rehomed to HOLLAND

JUNE 2014 - LILLY was found 13 kms from Ermioni on the main road - now living in GERMANY

JUNE 2014 - STAVROS discovered at the Mandrakia side of Ermioni after being alerted by a tourist - GERMANY

MAY 2014 - BILLY, BELLA & BROWNIE were rejected by their mummy - rehomed to GERMANY

MAY 2014 - Alerted by a Greek girl, about a little new born puppy at the waste bins - PAULA BEAR - HOLLAND

MAY 2014 - MARNIE, MILLY & MAISIE were found under waste bins by the market - rehomed in HOLLAND & UK

DECEMBER 2013 - ERMIS a barrel dog and his puppy son JUNIOR rescued and now enjoying a wonderful life in AUSTRIA

 

DECEMBER 2013 - ZARA was picked up wandering and crying by the Panaghia Church in the old village - UK

DECEMBER 2013 - JACK was found by bins along the Mandrakia - sick and filthy - rehomed in FINLAND

DECEMBER 2013 - THOMAS alerted us by the plight of his cries along a county lane - now safe and sound 

DECEMBER 2013 - LEON was discovered amongst a colony of stray cats - rehomed in FINLAND

DECEMBER 2013 - KIRA was rescued by us as the original finder didn't want her 

NOVEMBER 2013 - 5 PUPPIES to two different mums discovered by the market in Ermioni - rehomed in GERMANY

NOVEMBER 2013 - FOXY & MARMALADE saved from the bins in Kranidi - 6 little ones were rescued, but only 2 survived. 

NOVEMBER 2013 - ALPHA & VITA found at AB supermarket in Corinth - now rehomed in GERMANY

OCTOBER 2013 - Tourist alert at Salanti, a mummy and her two babies - WILLOW, TIGER & LIQOURICE - UK

OCTOBER 2013 - MARLEY was dumped in an open field, then sadly went missing

SEPTEMBER 2013 - SOOTY & SWEEP were picked up from inside waste bins in Ermioni - now in GERMANY 

AUGUST 2013 - TOM & JERRY were rescued from the village in Ermioni - rehomed in GERMANY

AUGUST 2013 - FELIX & ZEUS were rescued by German tourists, but sadly they did not survive the journey home

AUGUST 2013 - SCOTTY was dumped - now rehomed in GERMANY

AUGUST 2013 - YASSOU was found half dead by German tourists, who eventually adopted him in GERMANY

APRIL 2013 - PEPSI, MAX, CHARLIE, ROSIE, BRANDY were 5 little kittens that were just dumped - GERMANY

FEBRUARY 2013 - DUSTY was found in bins in Ermioni - rehomed in GERMANY

JANUARY 2013 - SQUIDGY we were alerted by tourists in Ermioni about an injured cat on the Bisti backstreets

DECEMBER 2012 - MAXIMUS just came across him down a country lane -  rehomed in HOLLAND

NOVEMBER 2012 - SMUDGE was found scavenging by waste bins - now has a loving home in GERMANY

SEPTEMBER 2012 - ANNIE and her 5 KITTENS were rescued from Athens as their owners couldn't afford to keep them 

SEPTEMBER 2012 - LUCKY was found by the bins inside a rolled-up carpet, with aggressive dog at one side - UK

AUGUST 2012 - ANGEL just appeared in a graveyard by Ermioni 

AUGUST 2012 - CORNFLAKE, WHEETABIX & SUGARPUFF started with finding a sick cat, then her 2 sisters appeared - HOLLAND

AUGUST 2012 - LUCY was dumped in the open field - rehomed in GERMANY

AUGUST 2012 - THE PRESIDENTS were 5 little kittens rescued from the island of Poros 

JUNE 2012 - SMOKIE was a very sick cat found on the back streets of Ermioni.  Survived 2 days only 

MAY 2012 - MINNIE was an injured and sick discovery - recovered and saved

MAY 2012 - Discovered by bins - a mother and her four puppies - GERMANY

JUNE 2012 - COFFEE, TOFFEE & CAPPUCINO were found inside bins but only two survived as one went missing - GERMANY 

MAY 2012 - MARLEY was rescued from an old derelict house in Ermioni - rehomed in GERMANY

APRIL 2012 - SCHMAKO was an abandoned little puppy - rehomed in GERMANY

FEBRUARY 2012 - JUNIOR was a tiny little kitten brought to be neutered, and stayed with us

JULY 2011 - GOLLY BOY was adopted from a friend who couldn't cope with this kitten 

JUNE 2011 - PEANUT was a very sick little kitten that sadly didn't make it 

JUNE 2011 - ARTHUR, ARCHIE & ARNIE were found in a toiley bucket at IREA beach camping area

JUNE 2011 - PUMPKIN was roaming along the back streets of Mandrakia harbour 

JUNE 2011 - OLIVER was found in waste bins at Porto Heli - He went to new home in Germany.

JUNE 2011 - CHELSEA was injured along the back streets of Ermioni - saved and recovered

JUNE 2011 - PRETZEL was found roaming along the waste bins by the market - rehomed in SWEDEN

MAY 2011 - POPEYE  This little boy was rescued and then he vanished which was heartbreaking 

APRIL 2011 - POPPY had two little babies, one soon died then POPCORN vanished

MARCH 2011 -  PAMPOUSHKA was rescued with a broken jaw and a split head - rehomed in HOLLAND

JANUARY 2011 - BENJI was rehomed as a result of the cruelty within the village, all cats had to have a new home 

JANUARY 2011 - BILLY was BENJI's brother had to go because of the cruelty within the village - rehomed in HOLLAND

RESCUED AND REHOMED GreekSTRAYS PRIOR TO 2011 

ADAM was rehomed as a result of the cruelty of the villagers, all the cats  had to go 

APRIL - LEO & THEO were rescued next to one of the old village churches 

 

OLIVIA - Did she belong to someone?  We don't know . . . but then discovered she was blind 

SMOKIE was rescued from the roof top of an old house.  Terrible eye condition and only partial sight 

POLLY born on the back streets to a nursing mum. The neighbours hosed this tiny kitten down and then got rid.

                    SCOOBY DOO was a friendly dog dumped in the old village of Ermioni.  It was very dangerous for him, so we had to save him.  Now has a loving home.  Read his story here: www.ermioni.info/things-to-know/story-scooby-doo
