One dark evening, returning from a village taverna in Fourni, we found a six-week-old kitten sitting in the middle of the road, just sitting there even though we approached it in our car.  We stopped and picked up this beraggled kitten, realising both its eyes were closed, thinking it was blind.  We took the kitten home, bathed it, gave it some decent food and took it to the local vet for a check-up, vaccination and medication the following day.  After a few weeks, we found that with the applied medication we had saved one of his eyes, but sadly we had to have the other eye removed by the vet.  Wearing a collar for a couple of weeks, Pumkin recovered and his closed eye healed over.  He began to explore much more outdoors, his energy levels increased from arrival and he started mixing well with the other resident cats.

After a few months of loving care in our home, Pumkin fully recovered.  We found an excellent family home for him in Germany, and Pumpkin, now renamed Benny, departed for his new permanent home in late-February 2025.  Pumkin/Benny soon settled in well with the family children and the other resident cats in Germany.  Another good ending for a GreekSTRAYS kitten from Ermioni.
